Introduction to the Department of Stomatology

The Department of Stomatology was established 40 years ago. Over decades and under the efforts of generations, the department has largely improved the quality of care and patients safety. It’s an important clinical practice, teaching and research base for stomatology and the "key clinical specialty”(2014) in Guangdong province. Our department has a complete secondary specialty setting, including Endodontics, Periodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Implant Surgery, Prosthodontics and Orthodontics divisions and so on. Among them, Periodontics and Orthodontics are priority development specialty in the Department. There are 56 dental chairs (48 at Tianhe main campus and 8 at Luogang campus). We provide top-ranking dental medical services targeted for all kinds of dental problems in Guangdong province, and proactively seeking for new concept & technologies.

We are in charge of 2 research projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China. In the past five year, we conducted more than 20 research projects funded by the Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, published 3 professional books and many research articles, including 7 articles collected by SCI database. There is 1 Ph.D. supervisor and 7 master supervisors. A total of 7 Ph.D. and 40 master students has graduated from the department. Around hundreds of students have attended dozens of national or provincial-level advanced programs held by our department.
