Introduction

Zhuanggui Chen, MD., PH.D

Title

Director of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Research Interests

Dr. Chen’s team mainly focuses on studying airway allergic diseases, such as asthma and rhinitis. During the last 5 years, they have established the HDM-induced asthma mouse model and found an interesting epithelium-derived molecule TSLP, which plays a key role in the airway remodeling. This research is funded by the Chinese National Academic Grants (The National Natural Science Foundation of China).

Dr. Chen’s practice area is the diagnosis and management of pediatric ICU patients, including children with severe asthma, pediatric acute distress of respiratory syndrome (PARDS) , viral encephalitis, post-transplant GVHD, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and so on.  He also introduced innovative treatment and therapeutic strategies for pediatric critical dieases which have been attracting worldwide attention, for example, using methylprednisolone pulse therapy to alleviate pulmonry hemohage deuto idiopathic pulmananry hemosiderosis.
