Hua Liang, MD & PhD
Titles
Associate Professor of Physician
Vice Director, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University
Research Interests
·Monogenetic Diabetes
·Lipid metabolism
Her research interest is in monogenic diabetes, a rare type of diabetes due to single gene mutations or chromosomal abnormalities, representing ~1-5% of all diabetes cases, especially focusing on the maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY), neonatal diabetes mellitus (PDM), and several insulin resistance syndromes. She has reported so far the first Chinese MODY2 pedigree caused by GCK gene mutation, and a rare case of severe insulin resistance syndrome with LMNA C deficiency. Additionally, she also has great interest in Lipid metabolism especially the molecular mechanism by which PNPLA3 confers susceptibility to liver injury and hepatic fat accumulation.
